A GAP ( Great Allegheny Passage) Trip Can't Come Soon Enough After the Winter We Have Had

Two of our Favorite Sections of the GAP

Salisbury Viaduct

Day one- A relatively easy climb from Rockwood PA, across the Salisbury Viaduct, continuing on over the Continental Divide until we reach Big Savage Tunnel.

Day Two

Cumberland,  MD

A tiring 22 mile climb from Cumberland MD through the foothills up to Frostburg, Md, continuing on up into PA across the Mason-Dixon line until we again reach Big Savage Tunnel. After such a long climb the coast down the mountain is a welcome relief, always one of our favorite parts of our trip and well worth the climb!!

There really is a brick line now!

Big Savage after the climb.

Both days are full of great scenery, bridges, tunnels and great company as we bike though a piece of heaven on earth!! Now if only this *^$^&*& winter would end so we could get biking again!
